Diffrences: the socs are rich, have a bad attitude, the greaserAre nice, poor. Similarities: they both defend their friends.
I didn’t like any of them really but if I had to choose it would be Ponyboy. He is nice, friendly, helpfull, a little shy, scared, confused.
I think Johnny was the hero in this book because he saved the ,ittle kids lives, jump after Ponyboy to the burning house, saved Ponyboy when he was about to drown, he came with ponyboy when he escaped and lots pf more. He js a very good and loving person.
I think it is bad that Johnny died, but he died happily, as a hero to the city and the friends. He did not deserv to die because he was such a good person and had his hole future a hed of him. The hero never deserves to die but npw he did and I thought it was good tbat he died as such a hero to his frieds.

    2. Jonny is my favourite characther couse he saved the children and put out the fire of Pony Boy when he was on fire.

    3. Yes there are heroes in book. Jonn and Pony Boy couse they saved the children in the churche and did think more about the childrens life than theirs.

    4. No I dont think the book ends very happy. Couse Pony Boy could not concentrate in school and their friend died.

    3. There were morse than 1 hero in the book bit I think Johnny was the biggest hero for risking his life the children
    4. I think it was an okay end. It could been better but it was a pretty happy ending.

    1. Diffrence: the difference between the socs and the greasers is that the socs are more rich, they have a very bad attitude too. The greasers live more poorly and a tougher life than the socs do.

    2. My favorite character: my favorite character is Ponyboy, i like him because he cares about his friends, he’s friendly, kind and very shy.

    3. A hero: Johnny, Johnny was the hero in the book, he saved some children from a fire in a church, he gave his life to save the children. But soon he died, died as a hero.

    4. The end: I like the end, the book ends as it begins. But the book ends very sadly. Pony has a very though life..

The socs are rich and live very easy lifes. The diffrence between them and the Grearses are that the Greasers don’t live easy lifes. They are poor, some of them get hitten by their parents, some have no parents at all.
Similarites: I think their more similar than you think. They got the same feelings, even if they don’t live the same way.
    2. I think Darry is my favorite charakter. I feel a bit like him, I also think it’s hard to show my feelings and things like that.
    3. Johnny is the hero. He is a strong person, he had a tough life and were strong until his death.
    4. No, I don’t think so. I didn’t want Johnny to die. But in other wice the book end happily, Ponyboy and his brother started to knos each other for real.

  6. 6 skriver:

    1. I think the same as the others. The socs are spoiled and rich kids. You can say they are the ”evil” ones in this book. The greasers are poor and they don’t have the best conditions. Both gangs like to go in groups, they feel stronger then.
    2. I don’t think I have a favourite character. But if I have to choose one I take Johnny. Beacuse he saved the children and Ponyboy.
    3. Johnny is definitely a hero in this book! Like I wrote he saved some children from a fire in a church and saved and were a good friend for Ponyboy.
    4. I don’t like sad endings so I don’t like The outsiders ending so much.

  7. 4 skriver:

    1. The biggest different is that the greasers are poor and the socs are rich. The greasers live a very though life and they have to be careful all the time that the socs don’t get them.
The similarities are that they all are humans and they hate the other gang but they care about their own familys and friends.

2.My favorite character is Sodapop because he cares really much about his family and friends and he is always nice.

    3. I think there are a lot of heros in this book but specially Jonny because he saved some children from a fire. In the end did he die because of that, but he died as a hero.

    4. I think the book ends great. It’s a sad end because two of Pony boys friends die but i think Pony boys future seems lighter.

    3. There were more than 1 hero in the book bit I think Johnny was the biggest hero for risking his life the children
    4. I think it was a good book but pretty boring.
    5/10 toasters

    1. The Socs are more rich and they have a really bad attitude too. The Socs hated the greasers´. The Greasers are poor and they really hated the Socs. The two groups think they are stronger togheter.
    2. I liked Ponyboy becuse he is the youngest person in the book and he is very strong too.
    3. they are many heros in the book. But i think the biggest hero are jonny, when he saved the children in the curch. He missed his life for the children. He died like a hero.
    4. I think the end is sad. Becuse twon people died, i dont likte when people died. But i think Ponyboy´s life going to be easyer.

  10. 16 skriver:

    1. The difference between The Socs and The Greasers is that The Socs is rich and tought and have all the ”power” compered to The Gresers. They are poor boys who need to whatch up every day because they never know if they are gonna get jumped.
I think the two gangs have similarities too. They are both a gang, of course. I also agree with number 6, that they both feel much stonger in their gangs. If they were alone I don’t think they would be that confindent.

    2. I actually don’t have a favourite character. There wasn´t someone that stood out in the book.

    3. A hero is someone who risks their lifes for someone else and I thought that Johnny and Ponyboy were the heros in this book. They saved the kids from the fire in the church.

    4. I think the book ends a bit sadly because Johnny dies. But at the same time it’s a bit happy as well. Johnny dies as a hero and I think people remember him as a stong and nice person.

2.I do not have any character from the book but I thought Jonny was good and he was such a person who was not afraid of anyone and dared to do things.

3.yes, Johnny was a hero when he rescued the children from the fire, I thought he dared to do anything no matter what it cost.

    4. The end was poor and good. ponyboys best friends died, it was Jonny and Darly. it was så hard for ponyboy to think of without them.
The good things was that he focused on school and work up their grades.

    The outsiders

    1. The differences between the two gans is mainly that the socs are richer and the greasers are pretty poor. The greasers also has their own typical hairstyle with long hair and lots of hairwax. That made the hair greasy and therefore the name of the gang.

    2. If I have to choose any favourite character it would be ponyboy. That’s because he’s nice and thinks different from the rest of the gang. I also think that’s why the author chose him as the main character.

    3. Jonny bacame a hero when he saved the children in the burning church. He never thought about what could happen to him. He just jumped into the flames and saved the kids. Later in the book he said that their lifes were even more important than his.

    4. The book does not really end happily. Ponyboy has a hard time trying to forget the horrible things that had happened. But in the very after a while fo thinking he seems to be ok with it.

The socs are the bad ones, the means ones. I don´t like their behavior and their fighting habbits. They are also the rich ones who like to show it with ther blue Mustang and other facinating tings.
    2.
I like Pony the most, he´s the toughest one from my point of view. He always stand there despite he´s age.
    3.
The true hero in the book is also one of the main characters.Johnny for me stod up as a hero when the church started burnin´.I like him alot as a person and as a hero.Sadly he died in the end, but as a true hero.
    4.
I didn´t like the beginning,it was very poor and boring. The middle and the end where incredible and unbelieveble intresting. In some grade it end happily but as i said earlier Johnny died and also Darry.

The difference between The Socs and Greasers is that The Socs are rich, they are handsome and they have new expencive cars. The Socs have a bad attitude.
Greasers have disgusting hair, they are poor and live in small houses and have a tougher life.
    They don’t like eachother.

I think Johnny is my favourite character. He killed Bill just to save his friend, Ponyboy. He also thought it was more important to save the cildrens than to survive.

Yes, Johnny is defently a hero. So is Ponyboy and Dally because they saved the childrens to.

The book ends sadly because Johnny and Darry die. But it was a good end to, Ponyboy focused more in school and worked up his grades.

  17. 3 skriver:

    1. The socs familys are richer than the greasers. But they all the same anyway.
Cause they all have feelings and they just want to protect their family and friends. Thats why they often get into a fight, cause they want to show that they are tough and everybody should respect them.
    2. Darry is my favourite character cause he got so much responsibility. And he always want the best for his little brothers that he love.
He would do anything for them.
    3. I think johnny is a hero.
Cause he risked his life to safe the little kids in a house that was on fire.
Johnny did all that for them and then he died because of it.
    4. I like the ending but is sad that so many people died. I think it has a great story and also a meaning with it.
That not everybody has it so easy.

  18. 5 skriver:

1 I noticed that both of the gangs were only boys, and the members of the gangs liked to fight, at least most of them.
The socs were much richer and lived in big fancy houses. And it seemed like none of the greasers had any parents.

2 My favourite character was a redhaired girl that was very pretty. I liked her because she wasn’t afraid of the greasers. She also wasn’t on anybody’s side, because she knew that the both gangs were wrong. She knew that the war between the greasers and the socs was meaningless, and would never lead to anything good.

3 The hero in this book was Johnny, he risked his life to save those children. He died like a hero, and he will be remembered forever.

4 I think that the ending was okay. It could be much more interesting, if it could give us a very mysterious ending, and make us interpret the ending in our way. However, it was a happy ending and I enjoyed that.

You could see the difference between the Socs and the Greasers just by the look of them. If you see a person with greasy hair, worn clothing that´s a Greaser. But if you see a person with neat hair, expensive chlothes and maybe a Mustang to, you`ll now that´s a Socs. You can summerize it like this:
The Greasers are poor and the Socs are rich.
But the aren`t just different. they´ve got som similars to. For exemple :
Both of the gangs fight with each other. There are many problems no matter witch gang you belong to.
    2.
My favorite character is Cherry ( or Sherry) because she dosen´t judge Ponyboy and the other by their satus in the society. She judge them by their personality.
    3.
A true hero for me is a person who truly cares about others and not because he or she whants attention. It doesn´t always needs to be something big and dangerous every time.
In the book there are som heroes. Ponyboy and Jhonny because they saved the kids in church. they are also kind and friendly to each others ans cares about others.
    4:
I think that the ending was pretty sadly because he died. He didn´t deserve it, i was too young and had so much more to do in his life than just be a Greaser i a small town. But i gives you a eye-opener, all storys doesn´t end happily.

Similarities: They both defend their friends. Both of the gangs fight with each other. If they were alone I don’t think they would be
that tough like when they are in their gang.

2.Ponyboy. He is nice, friendly, helpfull, a little shy, but I think he is a good friend and he is lucky that he has his brothers and friends by his side because he is very young.

3.I think Johnny was the hero because he saved some kids their lives,he jumped after Ponyboy to the burning church,he saved Ponyboy when he was about to drown and he came with ponyboy when he escaped to the Jay Mountin. Just because he risked his life to some kids that he even didn’t know makes him to a hero!

4.I think that the ending was pretty sad and a bit happy because Ponyboy started to focus on school a bit and sad because Johnny died. He didn’t deserve it, he was so young and had so much more to do in his life and just becasue he did save the kids from dying, and for that he did deserve to be a live. But it’s like in the reality, sometimes the heros die just becasue they risked their lives for someone else, and it’s sad but it’s the truth.

    2. My favorite character is Ponyboy, because he is friendly, helpfull and nice. He seems to be a good friend.
    3. Johnny and Ponyboy, because they saved the children from the fire in the church.
    4. I think it was a pretty good end, but it was sad that Johnny died. Because Johnny doesn’t deserved to die after his effort…
After Johnnys death Ponyboy start to care more about school so he got highter grades.

  22. 124 skriver:

    1. The difference between the socs and the greaser was that the socs were very rich, they got everything. The greasers only got eachother, The society was looking down on the greasers because they were poor and was making alot of trouble.

The similarities was that they were all in gang and where helping their friends. They all missed parents that were caring about em so they got in big groups and become like a family for eachother. They all had a very tough life, it was only the money that separated them.

    2. My favorite character was Ponyboy. He was not like the other guys, he was special, he were smart, and was very emotional, he did not seem to care about the difference between the socs and the greasers.

    3. A hero is a person who is helping other people that are in danger, they are willing to risk their life for some one else, i think that Ponyboy and Johnny was heroes, Dally was also a hero, but Johnny was most, because he died to save the children in the burning church.

    4. The book ends in a both sad and happy way, the sad was that johnny died, the happy part was that the greasers won the big fight and that Ponyboy finally got back on track in school so he can graduate and go to collage and get a good job.

  23. 102 skriver:

1:differences and the similarities between the socs and the greasers. Well the most ubvious is the money and the way society looks at the two gangs. For exampel the greasers are poor and have bad grades/drop out of school this automatically lower their social ranking. Allso the parents have a big part in this because without parents, the greasers `grown up too fast´´ and have a tougher life than the socs. But something you realize when you read the book is that having parents that dont really care has a similar effect as no parents at all. I know this will come as a shock to you guys but in a way both gangs had a very tough time during the whole story. None of the parents cared about what was going on, their kids where out fighting, killing, drinking etc.The socs and the greasers arent so different after all. I can find more similarities than differences. The way of the hard tough life got the gangsmebers to support eachother.
    2. Ponyboy, well what can i say. Hes the main character and well i dont know that much about his physical appearance. I do know that he is a white kid with black greasy hair he has more brain than muscle however he rarely use his head to its fullest. Ponyboy is a careing person and smart too. He has good grades and decent manners. He is very uncertain about what to do and how to act sometimes. Hes a good friend and a good person in general.
Why i choose to describe him? Well to be honest i dont know for sure,i guess it´s because he is described the most in the book so you get to know him the best.
3: Hmm well a hero dosent have to be a major manifestation of physical strength, heroism and superpowerd inhuman abilites. The everyday action of some who is willing to risk… Well anything really, is kinda a hero. Lets say i saved a kid from a burning house, i would be called a hero for sure. But lets say a singel mom with 3 kids still succeeds with work, household taking them to footballtraining every other day and still dosent get a ”thank you´, continues doing this even though noone asked her to aint considerd a hero. Well thats the world of the social media of 2013. This dosent mean that you cany appreciate the everyday little heroism the world offers you.
    Sodapopp,johny,ponyboy and darry.
Sodapop because he dropped out of school to work so that ponyboy could get all the help and resources to build a steady way to a better life. So he screwd upp his own life to improve his brothets.
Darry because he worked and took care of his brothers and the gang and well
practically everything.Johny for saveing Ponyboy from the socs and both Johny and Ponyboy for saveing the kids in the church.
    4. Allthough 3 people died in the book i think it ended in a good way, a bit sad that Dally and Johny died but thats life. I love how Rob talks to Ponyboy in the ending of the book and Pony starts going crazy… Rob gets it and just backs off to let him deal with the losts in his own way even though it seems stange. So in the memory of his friends he starts to behave and study just like Darry wanted. He wanted him to use his head and well he got his wish granted.
Also i´d like to add how i love the fact that the book starts and ends the same way thats really cool.

1: The differences between the two gangs is that the socs is rich and they live a much better life than the greasers.
The greasers don´t have much money and they have grown upp with no perents and therefore are the greasers life much harder than the socs.
The greasers seems to be much nicer than the socs.
The similarities is that the gangs think they are stronger together(which is pretty obvious).

2: Pony-boy is my favorite character in the book. Pony have a grease hair just like the other greasers. He had dark hair but later in the book when he and Johnny hides in the church he colours his hair into blond. I think Pony is 14-15 years old. He is very nice and caring. He is the ”star” in the book and he is always there when something happen. He is the most intresting person in the book.

3: A hero is a person that do something very good. Johnny is a hero for saving the kids in the burning church. He died as ha real hero. Even Ponyboy deservs to be a hero becuase he also helpt Johnny to save the kids.

4: The book ends pretty sadely becuase Johonny and Dallas dies in the end. But I like the end despite that Johnny and Dallas dies.

  25. 115 skriver:

    1. The socs are rich and They are driving around in mustangs..they could get everything they want very easy. They have grown up on the right/good side of the town, if you compare them in the money question.
Greasers on the other hand are very poor and many of them dosent have any parents or they got prents who dosent care about them at all. Those two things make the greasers more like a family.
Simillarites:Both gangs are defending their freinds now matter what. I think that`s good beacuse then you see who are your real brothers. Not just in the fight i thinks it is good. i meen a fight is not the best solution but like i said they stand up for eachother, in every situation no matter what.

    2. Ponyboy, i meen what can you say? he is the main character and trying to do things right. He thinks more than the rest of the gays i think, more brain than muscles. It looks like he dosent see any differens between the socs or greasers. He want it to big like a big family i think. I meen in the end i feels likes he feels just like Johnny says in the end, is no point with the fighting.

    3. Johnny! i mean the guy kill one person. i dosent support that but i mean in the same position, wahat had you done? some guys trying to kill your best freind and you got a knife..i should use it. maybe not like him but in some way i should had used it. Then he jumps in to that burning church, i mean not many had done that in that situation. creed to the guy!
risking hes life for those kids, just like that, big!

4.The book ends in a good way but also sad. Pony read that letter and Dallas gets taken out by the police. They win the fight but Johnny die so i mean you really see both sides of it.

  26. 117 skriver:

    1. The biggest difference between the socs and the greasers is that the socs are richer and more spoiled, and the greasers have less money and live poorer.
Both gangs love to fight and can’t stand losing, and all care when one of their friends get hurted.

Later in the book you find out from Cherry, from the socs, and Ponyboy, from the greasers, that all guys in both gangs are caring inside, but can be very aggressive or mean on the outside.

    2. My favorite character is Ponyboy. He’s younger than many of the guys in the gang, but he behaves very grown-up. He cares about his friends and he seems like a very nice and shy boy. Ponyboy has black greasy hair, but later in the book he dyed it blond.

He is my favorite character because he’s not afraid to say what he thinks, and he’s very thoughtful and he would never hurt anyone on purpose.

    3. A hero is a person that helps others. It has nothing to do with their muscles or physical strength, but their mental strength and the heart plays the major role.
One hero in the book is Johnny. He saved the children from the burning church and showed a lot of courage, because he risked his own life to save others. When Johnny died he died as a hero.

    4. The book ends, according to me, very sad. Johnny had struggled to survive for a long time when he died. This affected all of The Greasers, many were sad and Ponyboy stopped studying and reading because he saw it as unnecessary when Johnny wasn’t alive.
Dallas was devastated when he found out about Johnny’s death, so he ran out to town with an unloaded gun. The police who came to stop him, saw the gun and shot him directly.

Although all these compromises and deaths separated many of the guys in the gangs, came Darry and Ponyboy closer to each other and they became the brothers Ponyboy always dreamed of.
